ASA Ruling on Debenhams Brands Ltd t/a Debenhams – The ASA has ruled that a Facebook ad for Debenhams which featured text that stated “Step into Spring with up to 60% off fashion, home and beauty at Debenhams”  was misleading and had breached the Code. The ASA considered that consumers would understand the claim, which was made alongside a carousel of images featuring three different products, to mean that the products featured in the ad were explicitly included in the promotion and would be discounted by up to 60%. However, only one of the products appeared to have a promotional price applied at the time the ad was seen by the complainant.
