The ASA has ruled that two paid-for Facebook ads by OneCompress, promoting bamboo arthritis gloves and anti-fatigue socks with medical claims, were misleading. The claims suggested the products could treat hand and foot pains, arthritis, carpal tunnel, numbness, neuropathy, swelling, and diabetic foot, but the products were not registered with the MHRA as medical devices. The ASA found that The ads breached CAP Code (Edition 12) rules 1.10 (Legality) and 12.1 (Medicines, medical devices, health-related products and beauty products). OneCompress must ensure no medical claims are made for unregistered products and must comply with the CAP Code. Future ads cannot include such claims without the necessary regulatory approvals.
