Emma Roake

Legal Director

Emma graduated with an honours degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford University in 2000. She completed her legal exams at the College of Law, London, before joining Fox Williams in 2003 to commence her training.

Since qualifying with the firm in 2005, Emma has provided a broad range of advice to fashion brands in respect of both contentious and non-contentious matters. She has advised fashion brands involved in disputes with agents and alleged High Street infringers of their intellectual property rights.  Emma has also prepared complex agreements for fashion brands in respect of their EU agents and distributors, and Middle Eastern licensees and commercial partners.

Some of Emma’s recent work includes:

  • Acting for Nigel Hall Menswear in the successful defence of an action brought against the brand by its former agent.
  • Advising an international brand on its franchising arrangements in the Middle East and Asia.
  • Preparing a wholesale trade mark licence agreement for an English heritage brand  in respect of its Japanese licensee.

Emma is also a member of the firm’s agent law team.  

From a personal view
Outside of the office, Emma has a keen interest in wildlife photography.
