Simon is a partner in the group and advises clients on a variety of fashion related matters. These have included helping Marks & Spencer put a cybersquatter in prison for domain name infringement and copying of its website as well as advising leading French lingerie company Chantelle SA on a trade mark infringement issue..

He has acted for clients in the luxury goods sector and in particular design and copyright infringement matters related to clothing and apparel, He has advised  a designer outlet on trade mark infringement issues and in relation to Google Adwords on the Internet. He also advises generally on intellectual property portfolios and strategies to further enhance and protect existing rights and has advised clients on merchandising of film and TV rights on clothing and accessories.

Recently he has helped Tiffany and other clients on closing down websites that were selling or linking counterfeit products.

Simon is recommended by The Legal 500 Directory for his IP expertise and currently serves as a panellist for the resolution of .eu domain name disputes.  He is a member of the Internet Committee of the International Trademark Association.  He has lectured on the subject of intellectual property at The Central European University in Budapest and to the Chinese government in Beijing, China.

He is often quoted in the national and business trade press on intellectual property issues  and is joint author of a new book called  ‘A User’s Guide to Designs’ and will be published by Bloomsbury Professional in March 2010.

From a personal view
With three young children Simon’s personal time is limited but as a keen skier he is enjoying introducing his brood to the slopes.  Music is another special interest following a childhood where he learnt to play the viola and piano and, before his voice broke, sung in operas at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera.  He is actively involved in running his old school alumni association.
