Joanna qualified in March 1997 having trained with Herbert Smith. She became a partner in May 2006. She undertakes a wide range of both contentious and non-contentious work including advising on employment contracts and handbooks, handling redundancies and other dismissals and dealing with discrimination issues. She has developed a particular interest in supporting human resources professionals in dealing with complex and difficult cases and advising employers on TUPE. She has experience of pursuing and defending claims in the Employment and High Court.
Joanna has acted for a number of senior executives in the fashion industry assisting them to negotiate new employment contracts or their terms of departure, her clients have included the Creative Director of leading luxury shoe brand, the International Sales Director of a luxury knitwear and accessories business, a senior menswear buyer for a major supermarket chain and for various finance directors for well known fashion brands. Joanna also advises employers in the industry particularly with hiring and firing senior staff and drafting their contractual documents.
Joanna has lectured on a wide variety of employment issues including family-friendly legislation, the prevention of discrimination claims and handling litigation. She has also written numerous articles and has been quoted in the press on employment and HR issues.
